There are some great ‘solarpunk’ stories currently playing out.
For example, the combination of solar farms and sheep farms couldn’t be more ‘solarpunk’ in its creative weirdness, giving us whacky articles entitled Do solarpunks dream of electric sheep? and Nature’s best lawnmower: How solar grazing is changing the photovoltaic landscape.
For more creative weirdness, we can remix a classic cowboy story with sustainable technology and queer representation – and produce a Solarpunk Western, aka Bounty Hunter Solarfunk, “a new comic that’s reimagining the western through a solarpunk lens”.

Welcome, then, to SolarPunk Stories – an online space and more, where you can “Join the Rebellion Against Despair, The Revolution for Desire”.
They have their wonderfully-inspiring website, then, with lots of stories – and a new update of ‘art and activism’ every fortnight.
Plus a SolarPunk Stories | Substack with repostings of all sorts, including this quote from the great writer & imagineer Ursula K Le Guin:
‘Hard times are coming, when we’ll be wanting the voices of writers who can see alternatives to how we live now, can see through our fear-stricken society and its obsessive technologies to other ways of being, and even imagine real grounds for hope. We’ll need writers who can remember freedom – poets, visionaries – realists of a larger reality’
As SolarPunk Stories say, “Let’s build a deliciously sustainable future together”.
